NEW YORK FULBRIGHT ENRICHMENT SEMINAR The 2010 New York Fulbright Enrichment Seminar will take place March 25th - 28th, 2010. Please check this page frequently for updates on the program, important logistical information and other resources related to the seminar.
As a reminder, if you are unable to attend the seminar, please contact us at NYCseminar@iie.org, so that we can invite another Fulbrighter from the waitlist. All Fulbright Enrichment Seminars have very long waitlists, so if you cannot attend the New York seminar, it will not be possible to place you at another seminar.
SEMINAR THEME AND PROGRAMThe theme for this year’s New York Seminar is Global Challenges, Local Solutions: Fostering Change through Social Entrepreneurship. Closer to the seminar, we will send you an overview of the program detailing the seminar’s events. The seminar will consist of discussions with leading social entrepreneurs, community outreach programs and student-led activities designed to display how social entrepreneurship can impact communities in the U.S. and in your home countries. Free time on Sunday will provide an opportunity to explore New York. For more information on our seminar theme, please click here.
During the New York Fulbright Enrichment seminar, 9-12 students will be selected to give presentations in panel sessions. The purpose of the panel session is to present a social innovation that you initiated or were somehow involved in your local home communities. The innovation should fall under one of the following areas: environmental sustainability, public health, education or social and economic equity.
If you are interested, please fill out the application and return it to NYCseminar@iie.org, along with a copy of your Curriculum Vitae by January 30, 2010. We will notify you at the beginning of March if you are selected to be a panelist. COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITYDuring the seminar you will have the opportunity to participate in activities with New York City area community service organizations. Closer to the seminar date, we will post a "Documents" section below where you can find out which organization you will be working with. Make sure to take note of the type of activity you will be doing and pack appropriately!
