The Parthenon Online he Organization of African Students hosted an event Friday to increase awareness about Africa. A table was set up near the entrance displaying various African items including jewelry and photographs that Marshall's Tanzanian Fulbright Scholar, Ernest Makulilo, had brought from his home. Dressed in a brick red traditional wrap and holding a club used by the indigenous Maasai people of Kenya and northern Tanzania, Makulilo explained the items to curious onlookers while other guests sampled traditional dishes such as chin chin, a sweet cookie-like fried dough common in Nigeria.
