Exhibit shows Pittsburgh's mark on artist (Japanese):

It's been nearly half a century since Japanese woodblock artist Naoko Matsubara attended Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) as a Fulbright scholar.

Back then in the early 1960s, Matsubara remembers attending a Ravi Shankar concert at Chatham College (now Chatham University), an event that influenced her to pursue her own art and a particular passion for woodblock printmaking.
